Bernina Club Day 19th October 2011

A great time was had by all at this months well attended Bernina Club Day.

Members shared their work/projects with each other over a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits.

Kathleen,  one of our members,  made a lovely but simple 'Azuma Bukuro Bag'.
She had very kindly made up a little kits for us all,  to have a go at making one of our own cute little bag.
Kathleen showing us how to make the bags.

Bags of fun and smiles - everyone was delighted with their wonderful creations.

Well done to everyone and a very big thank you to Kathleen. An inspiration to us all.

Bernina Bonanza Event

I have been busy delivering sewing classes. Having lots of fun sharing sewing skills with others.
At  West End Sewing Centre in Cheltenham we had a 'full house' for the Creative Overlocking Course.
Everyone had a good time, making flatlocking stitching, rolled hems, lettuce edges, adding lace and beads, stitching with wire. Just how versatile the Overlocker can be is amazing!!!

Today's workshop - Creative Ways with Bias, went down very well indeed. Creating  your own trimmings to match your garments, or soft furnishing, just  make your projects individual and unique.
Using a Rotary Cutter, board, and Cutting Rulers, Everyone made their own bias, piping, corded inserts, flat soft hem edges, bias ruffles and much more  in many sizes with all sorts of fabrics-
- navy strip look so different when cut on the cross- !!
Bet you didn't know you could do so much with Bias!

At my regular evening sewing workshops at Karen's Studio in Coventry the students have been busy getting to grips with patchwork squares, finding out how to turn up smart trousers, making a fitted bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a lovely draping skirt to match - made in beautiful Indian  Design hand woven silk fabric and learning new mixed media techniques. As usual everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and homemade cake as well.
